Wilson Pickins Promotions is proud to announce the addition of Denver based Americana/ Bluegrass artist, Scott Slay to their diverse roster of top notch Roots music talent for publicity and booking services. The team at Wilson Pickins is excited to have Scott and his band “The Rail” on board for the new sound they offer the current line up and for bringing them to a region that Melanie (Wilson) has been aiming to reach into for some time, having lived in Colorado for nine years.
“Scott (Slay) just sounded like a neighbor or colleague I had known for years when I talked with him and it was so comfortable being both familiar with Colorado I think. The fact that the album and the talent was incredible was a super bonus! I can’t wait to share it with all of you!” -Melanie Wilson
Slay’s latest work, “The Rail” is set for official release in Spring 2019 but pre-orders are available here now from popular distributors. The thirteen-track album includes a variety of traditional and more progressive tunes, each with Scott’s own special arrangement’s and flavor added—backed by an array of well respected guest musicians from the folk and bluegrass genres, delivering brightly colored, eclectic and varied sounds and influences. Some of the amazing musicians featured on the album include Sierra Hull, Scott Vestal, Sammy Shelor, Andy Hall and Josh Shilling. Pre-orders for “The Rail” are available now on iTunes.
“Working with Scott on this record has been a blast! On top of all the talent, Scott is just a great guy. I really like the songs, and the musicianship on board is stellar! I can't wait to hear these tunes performed live!” -Josh Shilling
Growing up in a musical family on the gulf coast, Scott became obsessed with Bluegrass music at age 5 after seeing Sam Bush take the stage with his mandolin. After touring the country as part of his father’s Bluegrass band, Slay began writing songs on guitar and mandolin in bands and other ensembles. He decided at sixteen he wanted to form his own group, trading his mandolin for the guitar. Slay saw success by collaborating with Sammy Shelor in Big Virginia Sky, participating in multiple east coast tours and a featured spot at the 2015 IBMA conference as a showcase artist. The group released a self-titled album in 2015 and later moved on to other projects.
With now over 25 years of performance experience, Scott has performed extensively throughout the United States and has had the privilege of collaborating and performing with other artists such as: Sammy Shelor, Scott Vestal, Sierra Hull, Sarah Jarosz, Josh Shilling, Jim Vancleve, Mike Munford and more.
Scott Slay and The Rail just recently performed at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, CO. with Grammy Award Nominees, the Traveling McCoury’s. Keep up with Scott’s schedule and road news online at denverbluegrass.com and on social media.
