Record-Breaking Crowds Celebrate 60th Annual Bill Monroe Bluegrass Festival in Historic Bean Blossom, Indiana

Bean Blossom, Indiana (June 24, 2026) - The 60th Annual Bill Monroe Bluegrass Festival proved once again why it remains one of the most beloved and important gatherings in bluegrass music, welcoming record-setting attendance and thousands of visitors from across the country to the historic grounds of the Bill Monroe Music Park & Campground for four unforgettable days of music, fellowship, and celebration.

The week officially began Wednesday evening with the beloved Preachin’ & Singing session hosted by Randy Levere, followed by the traditional bean dinner and customary main stage jam. This year also included an evening performance from The Kody Norris Band as the official kick off to the festivities. While severe weather and tornado sirens briefly threatened the festivities, guests awoke Thursday morning to blue skies and perfect conditions as excitement filled the air throughout the legendary park.

Thursday’s lineup featured some of bluegrass music’s finest artists, including Junior Sisk, backed by his outstanding Red Camel Collective band, Dave Adkins & Mountain Soul, The Kody Norris Show, The Grasscutters, and a milestone debut performance by young mandolin phenom Wyatt Ellis on the very stage where Bill Monroe himself once stood.

Momentum continued to build on Friday as the event posted its second consecutive day of record-high post-pandemic ticket sales. Guests packed the grounds for an incredible day of entertainment featuring Off Time Bluegrass, Tidalwave Road, Ashleigh Graham & Appalachian Highway, Grand Ole Opry stars Darin & Brooke Aldridge, and crowd favorite Ralph Stanley II & The Clinch Mountain Boys.

As anticipation mounted throughout the week, legendary songwriter and longtime Bill Monroe Music Park supporter Paul Williams arrived on the grounds, delighting audiences and joining multiple artists on stage, including Wyatt Ellis and The Kody Norris Show. His presence added another layer of nostalgia and significance to an already memorable week.

Saturday delivered a fitting finale to the landmark anniversary celebration. Rising stars The Burnett Sisters Band, DownRiver Collective, the Richard Bennett Band with his Tony Rice Tribute, and Authentic Unlimited delivered electrifying sets that energized the crowd and set the stage for one of the most anticipated moments in recent memory.

The weekend culminated with a truly historic appearance by the legendary Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. Paul Williams also took to the stage with them for a few songs, creating an unforgettable experience. Lawson, who retired from touring in 2021, made a highly anticipated return to honor the 60th Anniversary of the Bill Monroe Bluegrass Festival, receiving thunderous applause and heartfelt appreciation from supporters who traveled far and wide to witness the occasion.

One of the most emotional moments of the week came during the annual Military Salute, where those in attendance joined together in honoring the men and women who have served our nation. The powerful tribute brought many to tears and served as a reminder of the deep sense of community and gratitude that has long defined this treasured gathering.

Another cherished moment came during a Hall of Fame gathering featuring Doyle Lawson and Paul Williams, where both icons shared treasured memories, stories from decades on the road, and reflections on Bill Monroe, the grounds, and the evolution of bluegrass music. The standing-room-only session provided audience members with a rare opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from two of the genre’s most respected figures.

Beyond the performances, visitors repeatedly praised the beauty and condition of the historic property. The Bill Monroe Music Park & Campground looked absolutely stunning throughout the week, with the stage and surrounding facilities receiving rave reviews from guests. The impeccable audio production provided by David and Traci Chichester of GBS Sound ensured every note was delivered with exceptional clarity and professionalism, drawing praise from artists and audiences alike.

Guests also praised the outstanding food truck offerings, welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional service provided by the Bill Monroe staff and volunteers, whose dedication helped create an unforgettable experience throughout the week.

As the final chords echoed across the Indiana hills, one thing was clear: the spirit of Bill Monroe remains stronger than ever.
