“THE LIKES OF ME” DROPS FOR CLAY HESS 

Benson, NC (June 12, 2025) - Award-winning acoustic guitar player and vocalist, Clay Hess has released “The Likes of Me” as his next single from a forthcoming solo project, worldwide today.

Hess interprets the Tony Rice version of the tune written by Jerry Reed with his signature smoking guitar solos and soulful vocals.  His six-string drives a hot studio band of seasoned pickers he has used throughout the project, including impressive dobro moments from Randy Kohrs, dynamic mandolin renderings from Nick Keen and a stout bass from Zak McLamb. Kohrs also provides the tenor harmony vocal.

Likes of Me was kind of a style defining song for me. The first time I heard it, it really resonated with me. It was as close to the music I heard in my head as any had been to that point.  Always wanted to cut it to pay homage to two of my heroes. Tony Rice and Jerry Reed! -Clay Hess

The new installment is the fourth single from his upcoming full-length project to be released on his 7Flat Records label.

While The Seldom Scene is keeping Clay very busy these days, he does still have a few dates with The Clay Hess Band on the schedule. You can catch them this weekend at the Bill Monroe Bluegrass Festival in Bean Blossom, IN and Industrial Strength SummerFest in Xenia, OH in July.
