Project Features Multiple Charting Singles and Latest Release “The Gavel” Co-Penned by The Voice Finalist Jordan Rainer
Nashville, Tenn. - The wait is finally over as Wilson Banjo Co.releases their highly-anticipated new project, Memory Lane. Available today via Pinecastle Records, the collection includes a total of 10 new recordings which were all produced and arranged by WBC founder and studio veteran Steve Wilson. Fans can download and/or stream the full project HERE.
Featured on the project are a string of hit singles released over the last year. The latest is the compelling story-teller, “The Gavel.” It was co-written by Lance Carpenter and Jordan Rainer, who recently was a finalist on The Voice as part of Team Reba. The song has already begun to garner major airplay on terrestrial, streaming and XM radio upon its release last month. It also debuted on the Roots Music Report Contemporary Bluegrass Song Chart earlier this week at No. 13. Elsewhere on the chart, former single and chart-topper “Sadie Danced A Hole In Her Stocking” remains in the Top Ten.
On Memory Lane, Wilson Banjo Co. teams up with some of Bluegrass, Americana and Roots music’s top songwriters. In addition to Rainer, other collaborations include Rick Lang, Troy Engle, Bill Packard, Lance Carpenter, David Stewart and more (see full track listing below). One common theme throughout is Wilson’s world-class banjo playing, paired with the vocals of fellow member Sarah Logan. In addition to previous singles like “Holler,” “Tomorrow’s Coming Fast” and “Don’t Forget About Maggie,” the album includes a wide array of different elements throughout, all staying true to the South Carolina based band’s well-defined style and sound. That variety includes a combination of other standout tunes like the stunning ballad “Come To Me,” and the clever “Our Last Goodbye/Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine” which is a hybrid of songs originally released by The Stanley Brothers and Bill Monroe, with a unique Wilson Banjo Co. twist.
After amassing a great amount of hype from their previous project Six Degrees of Separation, the band looks to build upon that momentum. It was released in 2021 and met with critical-acclaim. The project went on to become a staple with radio DJs, spending countless weeks at No. 1 on the Roots Music Report Bluegrass charts with multiple songs like “When The Crow Comes Down,” “Issaqueena” and “Midnight On The Highway.”
